The Quiet Corner Jazz Quartet is Southern New England’s newest jazz experience. Pure jazz crafted in the finest tradition.
Doug Lang- Woodwinds
Doug toured with The Tommy Dorsey Band as saxophone and clarinet soloist. Has performed with The Temptations, Gypsy starring Tyne Daly at The Bushnell, and The Soul Sound Review. His band Street Temperature opened for Tower of Power at the Sting Club in New Britain. Doug holds music degrees from UConn and The Hartt School. He restores vintage saxophones in his spare time.
Mark Smith- Piano
Mark grew up in Connecticut and attended The University of Hartford. He was host of The Jazz Show, mornings on WWUH 91.3 FM. He then left CT and spent years performing jazz in Philadelphia before moving back a few years ago. He’s been busy performing at Mohegan Sun, Wadsworth Athenaeum, Carmine’s, CT Tennis Center, New Haven Lawn Club, and many local jazz venues.
Roger Glidden- Bass
Roger attended North Texas State and UConn. He spent years touring with the Lorna Greenwood Band, Buckinghams, Delirious, Bonnie Foster Band, Blue Steam (with Patti Tuitt), and the “Atlantis” show band performing in Los Vegas, Tahoe, and Atlantic City. The last few years he and Phil Palonen have been the house band at The Mansion at Bald Hill.
Drew Wainacht- Drums
Drew received music degrees from WestConn and UConn. A retired public school band director, he also taught the drumline at the University of CT. Before teaching, he was drummer with Vince Mendoza in the Pegasus Jazz Group. He has performed in groups opening for Horace Silver and Dave Brubeck. His bands have performed at Mohegan, Berklee, Atlantic City, Daytona, and various clubs in southern New England.
