Steven Husted and his group of jazz musicians are masters at presenting straight-ahead jazz with swinging tempos that encourage finger snaps and head-bopping.


At the centre of the project is Two Nights–“LIVE”, an 18-track recording that captures Steven’s working ensemble in genuine concert conditions. Rather than presenting straight-ahead jazz as a fixed repertoire, the group combines established standards with Steven’s original compositions, creating a set driven by swing, responsive ensemble playing and the momentum of musicians building the music together in real time.

Two Nights-"LIVE"

The album reached No. 1 on the NACC Top Jazz Adds chart, rose to No. 2 on the Roots Music Report Mainstream Jazz Album Chart and has received continued jazz-radio airplay. Its reception reflects the central strength of Steven’s work: music grounded in the jazz tradition but carried by a recognisable compositional voice and an engaging live presence.

His professional background includes performances with Kenny Burrell, Billy Higgins and Vince Wallace, as well as six years teaching at the Stanford Jazz Workshop.

Steven Husted and Friends offer presenters a cohesive, audience-focused concert in which rhythmic energy, original writing and genuine musical communication take precedence over display.

and Musical Development
Steven began playing music at the age of six and immersed himself in jazz after moving to San Francisco as a teenager. By his early twenties, he had become an active bassist within the Bay Area jazz scene.

His career includes performances with Kenny Burrell, Billy Higgins and Vince Wallace, alongside extensive work as a bandleader, sideman and composer. Earlier electric and fusion-oriented projects broadened his rhythmic and harmonic vocabulary, while his current work brings that experience back into an acoustic, straight-ahead context.
